EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a powerful psychotherapy that aims to alleviate suffering and increase resilience from the impact of past painful experiences.
The theory behind EMDR is that the brain wants to heal, it just needs the right circumstances. With EMDR, a safe relationship with your therapist, and a little bit of your own curiosity, those circumstances can be created to help your brain reprocess these painful experiences to something more helpful to your everyday life.
